Powabyke Surges Ahead in E-bike Market
Having almost trebled their year on year sales, Powabyke Ltd is continuing to blaze a trail in the world of electric cycles.
With exciting developments on the horizon, 2009 looks set to be the year of the Powabyke, as changing attitudes towards e-bikes are reflected in sales figures.
Established in 1999 and now celebrating their 10th anniversary, Powabyke has gone from strength to strength in the e-bike market, forging ahead with a product aimed at saving commuters money, and helping to save the environment by encouraging people out of their cars.
At a time when people being more cautious with their money, Powabyke has found that their new X-byke range has proved to be their most popular model to date, selling its first two shipments before they had even docked.
The value for money customers get from an X-byke, coupled with the ever increasing costs of commuting, has lead to something of a revolution in the market.
Managing Director of Powabyke, Nick Child explains, “For years people have been dabbling with the idea of getting out of their cars, saving money and reducing their carbon footprint, but until now it hasn’t been easy.”
“With the X-byke we have successfully created a vehicle that makes it easy for people to commute, potentially saving them thousands of pounds during the course of the year. The message is getting across, and we’re finding that people are warming to e-bikes, particularly our sleek, light-weight X-bykes, as a modern urban must-have vehicle. Not only that, our customer base is continually expanding.”
It’s not only the customers who are benefitting from the explosion in Powabyke sales. Increased profit margins on the new X-byke range has meant that IBDs are cashing in too.
Nick Child added, “We have used our experience in the market to create an e-bike that’s dealer friendly, with increased profit margins of around 300 per cent for IBDs. The change in attitudes towards e-bikes is driving more footfall into shops, and the design of the X-byke is more consumer friendly, which is good for both the customer and the dealer.”
“We have an excellent network of dealers across the UK, and we’re confident that our product, and the support from the team here at Powabyke, will continue to be a great combination for them.”
The future is looking bright for Powabyke, with the launch of their new folding e-bike later this year. Using the same basic principles as the X-byke – a sleek, lightweight, user-friendly design – the folder will complement the new X-byke range, bringing another reliable electric vehicle from Powabyke that can be easily transported and stored when necessary.
The folding model will be ideal for anyone with limited storage space, for example caravan and boating enthusiasts, commuters using trains for part of their journey, and those living in flats and apartments.
Nick Child added, “X-byke sales are continuing to go extremely well, and we’re looking to keep this momentum going with the launch of the new folding bike later this year.”
